French citizens may enter Mauritius visa-free for tourist stays of less than three months, provided they have a valid passport, a return ticket, sufficient funds, and the necessary documents for onward travel. Immigration officers will stamp their passports upon arrival.
Required documents for short-term stay (less than 3 months):
— Valid passport: valid for the whole length of your stay, with at least one blank page.
— Return ticket or confirmation of onward travel.
— Proof of accommodation: hotel reservation or a welcome letter if you are staying with a resident.
— All-in-One form and health declaration: since June 2026 both are filled in online before boarding. Our guide to the Mauritius All-in-One Travel Form shows how.
— Documents related to the next country: all necessary documents for the next destination.
For stays longer than 3 months:
— You must obtain a residence permit before departure or a Premium Visa online on the official website of the Mauritius Immigration Service.
Important recommendations:
— Check the formalities regularly, as regulations can change quickly. For up-to-date information, see the website of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fr/conseils-aux-voyageurs/conseils-par-pays-destination/maurice/).
— Minors of French nationality traveling unaccompanied outside the country must provide a signed parental authorization, proof of identity, and a copy of the identity document of the parent who signed the application.
— A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if you recently visited a high-risk country before arriving in Mauritius.
